Director’s Notes

Billy Tighe reflects on two pivotal moments in his young career that set him on a journey towards personal growth as an actor.

  • His first principal role on a tour in La Cage Aux Folles challenged him to be more authentic in his acting choices.

  • Working with director Diane Paulus on Pippin, she called him out on his acting choices and challenged him to be honest with his portrayal of the character and situation.

  • Tighe credits these moments for challenging him to pursue his full potential as an artist and to give as much of himself as possible every time he performs.

  • He believes that ‘good enough’ should not be the goal as an artist, but rather to actively pursue evolution and transformation both for himself and his audience.
