Director’s Notes

In this segment, Michael talks about:

• how the evidence is irrefutable: performing arts, including dance, singing, opera, and instrumental music, are an integral part of the learning process.

• that without these forms of expression, children miss out on a crucial aspect of their development and may experience increased behavioral issues and violence.

• how as the world becomes increasingly digitized, the arts are more vital than ever for fostering creativity and imagination.

• how engaging in creative activities is essential for leading a balanced, fulfilling life and for finding a sense of purpose and meaning.

• how he had a positive experience working on a collaborative project with a vocal company, dancers, and an orchestra.
