Director’s Notes

In this segment, Brian discusses

  • Getting back to storytelling - why does this number exist in this moment in this show?

  • Not just recreating a show in the exact ways it's already been done. It's ok to be inspired by other people, but it's never ok to steal other peoples' ideas.

  • Creating choreography that serves the purpose of the number, and making sure that it fits your narrative.

  • Intellectual property doesn't allow you to use certain features from the original show. Let this spur your creativity to find new ways of doing things!
